Are you ready to meet your very own Flatbush Cat?

We take pride in matching each cat with the right home and helping every adopter find their perfect new family member.

Before you apply, please read Cat Care 101, a quick guide covering the basics of responsible pet parenting. Even if you’ve had cats before, it’s worth the refresher.

If you’re comfortable with the responsibilities and costs of cat care and have a sense of what your ideal cat situation looks like, you’re ready to fill out our adoption questionnaire.

Fees & Medical Policies

Our adoption fee helps cover the costs of preparing each cat for their forever home:

  • $125 for a single cat

  • $175 for a pair

Unless otherwise noted, every cat or kitten is:

  • Spayed or neutered (or scheduled if age-appropriate)

  • Examined by a veterinarian

  • Microchipped

  • Vaccinated with FVRCP (and Rabies when age-appropriate)

  • Treated for fleas

  • Dewormed

Our Adoption Process

  • Fill out our questionnaire and tell us about your home, lifestyle, and dream cat(s).

  • If you're not sure who you'd like to meet first, our team will be happy to guide you towards your perfect companion.

  • Meet potential cats via video call with their foster to see them relaxed in their space and hear about their personality.

  • If it’s a match, complete the paperwork online and pick up your new cat from their foster home (usually within a week).

Please note:

  • We only place single kittens in homes with another young cat for companionship.

  • Most foster homes are in central Brooklyn.

  • The primary caregiver should complete the application — we don’t recommend adopting cats as gifts.

  • If you live more than 40 miles from Brooklyn, we encourage you to adopt from your local rescue group.

  • We list cats for adoption screenings as soon as they are available and remove their names when we already have qualified applicants. Apply now and let us know what you’re looking for and our adoption coordinator will reach out within 3-5 days or as soon as your potential match becomes available. We rescue over 500 cats a year, so even if your perfect fit isn’t in our system right now, they are likely waiting in the wings.

    Occasionally we also have wait lists for certain types of cats (ex. “pair of kittens TBD”); if that’s what you’re looking for, it’s helpful to fill out an application so you’re in the system. From there, our adoption coordinator will reach out to you within 3-5 days. Please note we do not adopt out single kittens unless you already have another young cat.

  • Our process moves very quickly. On average, you can take your new family member home within one week of applying.

  • We know adjusting to a new family member isn’t always smooth sailing. Our team is here to offer you support and answer questions every step of the way.

  • If you’re in Flatbush or East Flatbush, please fill out a request for support to get connected with help. Due to limited resources, we unfortunately cannot trap or rescue outside of our Flatbush service area and suggest searching Google or Instagram for local rescues.
