Sunday, Nov 10th 2-6pm

(FREE - RSVP REQuired BELOW)

Monju-Do Zen Fellowship
520 Clinton Ave
Brooklyn, NY 11238 (Google Maps link)

Event description

Cats can survive outside in the New York winter, but with your help they can be much more comfortable! In this hands-on workshop, we’ll help you build winter shelters for your outdoor community cats. You will make shelters onsite that will are ready for immediate use. See below for supplies you should bring and to RSVP.

WHAT TO BRING

Please bring least one 18- to 36-gallon Rubbermaid-type storage tote, ideally with locking handles, and any color except clear (clear plastic doesn't withstand winter temps). If possible, we ask that you bring one extra tote to assist another caregiver in need. We will make extra shelters for those who are not able to attend.

Tote options available from The Home Depot:
HDX 27 Gal. Tough Storage Tote in Black
Sterilite 18 Gal. Latch and Carry Storage Tote
HDX 20 Gal. Storage Tote in Grey

You can find similar options on Amazon, but they are more expensive.

We will provide

Straw, insulation, duct tape, box cutter/scissors, hands-on instruction and good vibes!

If you live in Brooklyn and need a winter shelter but can’t attend, we may have a few available after the workshop. Please contact us for more information.

If you would like to help us build and distribute winter shelters to caretakers in Brooklyn, please RSVP here and sign up on our volunteering page.
