Community Engagement Manager
Flatbush Cats is on a mission to end overcrowded animal shelters in NYC. We’re seeking a dedicated and passionate Community Engagement Manager to connect more people and their pets with helpful resources and support and deepen our ties within our community.

The Community Engagement Manager acts as an ambassador for the organization through high-volume outreach, ensuring pets and their people have the resources they need to thrive. They also support trap-neuter-return (TNR) initiatives, pet pantries, education / training, and weekend community clinics, providing onsite support and volunteer coordination across all touchpoints.
The ideal candidate has a deep passion for building community, exceptional communication skills, and a demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders. While TNR and community cat experience is desirable, it is not required. Due to the nature of our programs, occasional night and weekend work is required.
Key Responsibilities:
Relationship Building (60%):
Build and maintain relationships with community members, partners / stakeholders, and volunteers.
Coordinate community outreach and engagement efforts including flyering, door-to-door initiatives, veterinary care clinics, pet food pantries, educational programs, events, and other initiatives.
Develop and grow our network of community partners, establishing strong reciprocal relationships to benefit our neighbors.
Collaborate with human and animal service organizations, veterinarians, and other groups to achieve program goals and objectives.
Develop and implement strategies to educate the public about humane methods of community cat management and promote responsible pet ownership, including developing and leading classes and training sessions.
Communicate with community members and partners in a professional and timely manner.
Support relationship building with elected officials as part of our advocacy efforts.
Program Management (25%):
Recruit, train, and supervise volunteers involved in community outreach, events, TNR, case management, transport, and other program activities.
Provide ongoing support, recognition, and guidance to volunteers to ensure a positive experience.
Maintain accurate records and statistics related to program activities.
Monitor program effectiveness and implement new strategies as needed.
Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) Project Coordination (15%):
Coordinate TNR program efforts, including trapping, transporting, neutering, and returning community cats to their habitats. Facilitate the intake of friendly cats to our rescue program.
Offer administrative and client communications support, serving as a liaison and lead point of contact for more complex projects.
Model policies and practices that promote humane treatment of community cats and support TNR programs.
When ready, lead TNR training and other educational events for community members and volunteers.
Qualifications:
2 years of experience in program management and community outreach.
Knowledge of trap-neuter-return (TNR) principles and practices, with direct experience in managing TNR programs (preferred but not required).
Ability to motivate and manage volunteers and employees effectively.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
Detail-oriented and organized, with proficiency in data management and reporting.
Experience and facility with developing processes for a fast-growing program.
Proficiency and aptitude for working with new software / digital platforms.

Reporting Relationships:
The CE Manager reports to the Director of Community Programs, and works very closely with program leads to identify and support community needs and larger organizational goals.
The CE Manager oversees a TNR and Community Outreach Specialist and a large volunteer team focused on community interactions, resource provision, and community cat efforts.
