BROOKLYN CATS, RESCUERS, AND SHELTERS ARE IN TROUBLE.

Thousands of cats are fighting to survive outdoors. Many don’t make it past their first few months.

Rescue groups are overwhelmed with help requests and huge medical bills. And city shelters have been overflowing for decades.

BUT THOSE ARE JUST SYMPTOMS.

"The vast majority of kittens in the US are born outdoors to community cats; without spaying and neutering these free-roaming felines, we will never be able to save the lives of every kitten in need. The Flatbush Cats clinic will provide vital services that address the kitten crisis at its root.”

The Real Problem

50% of US Pet Households Can No Longer Afford Basic Vet Visits

WHEN FAMILIES CAN’T ACCESS VET CARE, THEIR PETS SUFFER.

The affordable veterinary care gap in NYC alone is massive: more than 170,000 additional spay neuter appointments are needed annually.

The result: thousands of kittens are born outside every year. Shelters have been at capacity for decades.

WITH MORE ACCESS, WE CAN HELP MORE CATS

Rescuers can’t access the S/N appointments they need to fix the cats in their community - which is key to controlling overpopulation - and shelters have been at capacity for decades.

The result: We can’t save them all. Some estimate that there are as many as 500,000 cats on the streets of NYC.

“Financial barriers are the #1 reason why families don’t seek out care for their cats. Basic care can be a barrier for pet guardians who otherwise have a strong and loving bond with their pets. This program is so desperately needed and could be a game-changing model!”

We can solve this with your help

We imagined a day when no cats suffered on the street or waited around in cages. To break this cycle for good and make a real lifesaving impact, we need to ensure that every pet lover has affordable access to quality spay neuter and veterinary wellness services.

Increased Spay and Neuter

More feral and free-roaming community cats are fixed.1

Fewer Kittens

As cat owners access affordable vet services, fewer kittens are born outside. 2

Lower Population Size

These combined efforts begin to reduce the number of cats outside.3

Help Shelters

Given the rate at which cats reproduce, we’ll slow the intake rate at shelters across the city.

Save Lives

By helping reduce the need for euthanasia, our impact on the overpopulation crisis over the next decade will be enormous.

it’s time to do something big

Today, you can help build Brooklyn’s first accessible and affordable clinic to serve pet owners in the community and rescuers across the city. This clinic will provide 7,500+ high-quality spay neuter surgeries and thousands of vet wellness services every year, addressing the root of the crisis.

with your help, We will also

GET CATS OFF THE STREET

Rescuers and TNR volunteers need spay/neuter appointments in order to rescue outdoor cats.

To break this cycle for good and make a real lifesaving impact, we need to ensure that every New Yorker has affordable access to quality spay neuter services.

KEEP CATS OUT OF SHELTERS

As cat owners can access spay/neuter services, fewer unwanted kittens will be born.

Given the rate at which cats reproduce when uncontrolled, our impact on the overpopulation crisis over the next decade will be enormous.

BRING MORE EQUITY TO ANIMAL WELFARE

We all love our pets, and we all deserve the love and companionship they offer.

Our program also addresses the lack of access to affordable spay neuter procedures or basic veterinary care - which disproportionately affects people due to their race, ethnicity, and poverty level of their neighborhood.

SET A NEW STANDARD

By seeking to innovate and disrupt, we introduce effective new solutions to longstanding problems.

Our clinic will produce a measurable reduction in the number of cats euthanized in shelters, driving a significant, sustained impact on NYC's lifesaving status - but that's not where we stop.

DELIVERING EXCEPTIONAL + AFFORDABLE CARE

Our clinic will set the bar for rigorous standards of care. We are incorporating best-in-class veterinary protocols and collaborating with industry experts, both locally and nationally, on our clinic design.

By making a transformational investment in this innovative and disruptive solution, you're not only supporting successful high-impact programs in 2022 - you're serving as the catalyst for long term systemic solutions that will finally address the cat overpopulation crisis once and for all.
