Is it time to find your very own Flatbush Cat?

We pride ourselves on helping families find the perfect new addition. Thinking through what kind of cat sidekicks will compliment your day-to-day, and talking over your unique situation is part of that process.

Please take a few minutes to read Cat Care 101 in advance of submitting your application. It briefly covers all the basics and is useful information even if you are already an experienced pet parent.

If you are comfortable with the responsibilities and costs associated with pet parenting, and have noodled a bit on what your ideal cat-situation looks like, now’s the time to submit an application!

Adoption fees & Medical Policies

Our adoption fee is $125 for a single cat or $175 for a pair. This fee covers some of the costs that we incur while preparing our cats and kittens for their forever home. Unless noted, all of our cats and kittens have been:

  • Spayed or Neutered (or scheduled for such when age-appropriate)

  • Micro-chipped

  • Vaccinated with FVRCP and, when age-appropriate, Rabies

  • Treated for fleas

  • Given deworming treatment: 3 rounds of Strongid and 2 rounds of Panacur

Our adoption process

Please fill out our application. Tell us about yourself and the type of cat(s) you’re dreaming about (pair of kittens, adult cat, etc.). Please feel free to list specific cats that you are interested in, but it’s not necessary. Our goal is to play matchmaker! We’re excited to help you find the right cat(s) for your family and lifestyle. As our process moves quickly, there may be cats waiting to meet you that haven’t even made it online yet so if you’re not seeing your perfect match on our page right now, it’s still a great idea to apply.

Our average response time to applications is ~2 days. We’ll schedule a time for you to meet with one of our Adoption Coordinators to discuss what cat or cats may be perfect for you and then arrange you to meet cat-candidates via video call. This allows you to see the cat where they are comfortable and settled in, and hear directly from the foster about their personality. Assuming all goes well, we’ll take care of paperwork and you can expect to pick up your new addition from their foster home within 5 days.

  • Please note, we only adopt unpaired single kittens to homes with a young cat friend who needs a playmate.

  • Adopted cats can be picked up from their foster home. Most of our fosters are based in the central Brooklyn area.

  • We provide tips and support as needed around introducing a new cat to your home.

  • The prospective primary caregiver should fill out the adoption application. We don’t recommend adopting cats as gifts!

  • If you live farther than 40 miles from Brooklyn, please consider adopting from your local TNR or rescue group!

Available Cats

We accept applications for cats listed here or Instagram (see the “Adoptables” Highlight). Often we will pre-screen applicants a few weeks in advance while getting the cats ready for adoption, so if you don’t see your ideal match there, apply to learn about cats coming soon!

Feel free to list specific cats that you are interested in, but we’re happy to help you find the right cat(s) for your family and lifestyle. Approved applicants will receive more up to date information on current cats that are available, as this changes often.
