Responsibilities:

  • Perform up to and document 25-35 pre-surgical examinations (including visual exams on TNR cats) making sure to use fear free handling techniques

  • Ability to identify conditions that may preclude a safe surgical procedure or anesthesia and reject patients in compliance with our protocols

  • Spay and Neuter up to 25-35 male and female cats and dogs 

  • This position requires lifting, kneeling, and standing.

    • If accommodations are required (ex. Seating during surgery) please simply communicate any concerns to the Flatbush Vet team so that we may do our best to meet your needs.

  • Respond appropriately to post-operative complications and lead the team in managing surgical and post-operative emergencies

    • Must be able to independently manage (with the support of the surgical technicians and assistants) scrotal hematoma(s), hemoabdomen(s), dehiscence(s), adverse anesthetic events, and vaccine reactions.

  • Monitor post-operative recovering patients

  • Excellent communication skills with staff and clients

  • Ability to lead the surgical team to complete all necessary procedures

Who you are:

  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree or equivalent from an AVMA-accredited institution

  • Licensed and in good standing in New York state

  • PLIT or equivalent professional liability insurance

  • Comfortable performing HQHVSN independently on both dogs and cats

  • Ability to work shifts as needed in support of our permanent team

  • Positive attitude, excellent work ethic, and ability to change direction based on the needs of the team

Pay: $150k-165k based on experience
