RESIDENT CATS ONLY, PROOF OF NYC RESIDENCY REQUIRED

The Toby Project and Flatbush Cats are excited to offer free or low cost spay neuter services for Flatbush residents! Service is available for cats only. This is ONLY offered for those who truly cannot afford to have their pet spayed/neutered at a veterinary clinic.

Why should I get my cat spayed or neutered?

It helps them live a longer, healthier life! See the ASPCA for more info.

There are plenty of medical and behavioral benefits to spaying (female) and neutering (male) your cats. You’ll also help control the cat overpopulation crisis, which results in millions of healthy cats being euthanized in the United States each year simply because there aren’t enough homes to go around.

How does it work?

More info about the clinic and which cats are eligible

Our mobile clinics are first come, first serve. Bring your cat to the mobile clinic location (corner of Ocean and Parkside Ave) in Flatbush on Sunday, August 4th around 6:30am. At 7:30am, you’ll check in and provide proof of local residence, along with proof of public assistance if applicable. A volunteer will tell you what time to come back for pickup, usually around 12:30-1:30pm that same day.

What does it cost?

Male cats (neuter) is $40, female cats (spay) is $50. Or this service is completely FREE with proof of public assistance or with a voucher that we provide while working with members of the community. All cats will also receive free rabies + FVRCP vaccines.

Where and when do I need to show up?

We’ll be parked at the park! The spay/neuter van will be located at the corner of Ocean and Parkside Ave, at the bottom right corner of Prospect Park (326 Ocean Ave if you need an address for GPS). See the map below for more info.

Check-in is at 7:30am and pickup time will be in the early afternoon, often around 1-2pm. Service is first come, first serve, so please arrive early.

What do I need to bring?

Please bring proof of local residence (Driver's License, utility or phone bill, etc. - passports cannot be used). This is required. For the services to be free of charge, please present your voucher or proof of public assistance at check-in. We cannot accept documents at pickup - everything must be provided at check-in! Oh, and don’t forget to bring your cat too! Please contact us if you need a free cardboard carrier.

How should I make sure my cat is ready for surgery?

Visit The Toby Project for more info on how the mobile clinic works and what to expect (note: price listings on their site may be different. Prices for the Flatbush mobile clinic are slightly lower). It’s important to make sure your cat has no food after midnight before surgery. Water is ok.

I have additional questions - who do I contact?

First, check out this page for more info on the process (note, prices may vary by date/location). If you still have questions, you can call The Toby Project at (646) 306-2728 or email us at flatbushtnr@gmail.com.

Do you need help spreading the word?

Yes we do! If you live in the Flatbush area and would like to make sure others know about this program, please sign up to help here. Putting up flyers in your building and talking to neighbors is a HUGE help!
