Position: Lead Wellness Veterinarian

Brooklyn, NY

Salary: $160,000-$170,000 salary negotiable based on experience

Schedule Specifics

Four 10 hour days/week

Wellness Clinic Days: Monday-Thursday 8am-6pm

Saturday 9am-5pm once a month initially to run our Community Clinics, moving to two Saturdays per month once we expand services later in 2026 (not to exceed four days per week).

Schedule will include a mix of clinical time 85%, admin / training time 15%.

Responsibilities:

Medical:

  • Provide compassionate, high quality preventive and wellness care

  • Work in a high volume environment that maximizes the number of patients we can help in a safe and quality manner

  • Thrive in a fast-paced environment! As a high-volume preventative care clinic, we offer a dynamic workday where you’ll see an engaging mix of wellness exams and minor outpatient cases—averaging about 19–22 patients a day.

  • Triage and refer cases that do not fit within our clinic's parameters

  • Provide support to high volume, high quality spay neuter surgery team as needed

  • Mentor per diem doctors and support staff in clinical best practices

  • Elevate our training program by blending your passion for mentorship with your organizational skills. You’ll balance hands-on teaching opportunities with the essential administrative support that makes our program thrive.

  • Take the helm of our no-cost Community Clinic—a passion project we are incredibly proud to offer one Saturday a month.

  • Uphold clinic SOPs and drive continuous improvement in medical protocols

Client Service:

  • Create a warm and welcoming environment for all clients

  • Communicate with clients in a respectful, nonjudgmental manner

  • Discuss importance of preventive and basic wellness care with pet owners

  • Provide clear discharge instructions and oversee the dispensing of any medications

  • Occasionally field post-operative questions and concerns

Administration/Team Management:

  • Communicate effectively with all clinic staff

  • Support records maintenance and treatment recommendations in our clinic software

  • Drive team level performance and support day-to-day clinical operations

  • Uphold culture communication and support conflict resolution

  • Support communications and advocacy efforts around our mission to increase affordable access to veterinary care

  • Participate in recruitment, scheduling strategy, and staffing decisions

  • Engage in leadership development to gain management and leadership skills

Who you are:

  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM), licensed or able to be licensed in New York State

  • 3-5+ years of veterinary experience

  • Active state and DEA license

  • Knowledge and experience in preventive medicine

  • Positive attitude, excellent work ethic, and ability to change direction based on the needs of the team

  • Strong leadership skills or passion for developing management skills

  • Commitment to team engagement and mentoring
